Six-year-old Annie falls critically ill with acute pneumonia, but her father Adrian Mercer delays the surgery money, demanding a twenty-four-hour approval process. While Annie's mother Sylvia Sinclair begs for help, Adrian lavishly spends on his old flame Maya Lang and her daughter Nina. Annie dies before the funds arrive; two hours after her death, Adrian finally transfers the money, calling it a loan. Heartbroken, Sylvia exposes evidence of bullying, neglect, and financial control online, then files for divorce. As Adrian's company collapses and his reputation crumbles, Sylvia leaves for France with Annie's ashes, rebuilding her life and never forgiving the man who let their daughter die.
