On their sixth wedding anniversary, Ava's husband Ryan brings home Lily, a French exchange student Ava has sponsored for five years. In front of her, the two flirt in French, revealing Lily is pregnant with Ryan's child, and that he plans to leave once she starts showing. They assume Ava doesn't understand French. But she speaks eight languages, and has simply never shown it. Ava stays silent, then begins to move: reclaiming her company shares piece by piece, exposing Lily's lies, and finally confronting them both at an international conference—in fluent French. Ryan realizes too late how badly he underestimated his wife. Ava files for divorce and takes back everything. He loses his wife, his business empire, and any chance of forgiveness.
