Orphan Cole, born with elf-like pointed ears and extraordinarily sharp hearing that allows him to detect fish underwater, is ruthlessly exploited by his adoptive family. He fishes year-round, earning nearly $1 million for his adoptive brother Tristan, but receives only $9,000 in return and is constantly humiliated. Cole buys an old fishing boat and repairs it himself in just 16 days. With his unique gift, he soon brings in huge catches. Driven by pride, Tristan and his father sail out during a hurricane, but their boat is wrecked and they become stranded at sea. Despite everything they have done to him, Cole comes to their rescue. Later, Tristan defaults on his debts and his family falls apart. When Cole’s adoptive father becomes seriously ill, Cole secretly pays for his surgery. In the end, Cole marries the gentle widow Ivy and builds a happy family with her daughter Lily, finally starting a new life with the help of his extraordinary gift.
